When you are under the influence of alcohol your physical co ordination becomes slower and more difficult to perform. Hangovers are caused by dehydration and a lower blood sugar level. Dark coloured drinks such as red wine and brandy may contain impurities.

Dehydration occurs because alcohol is a diuretic, which stimulates the production of urine. Alcohol also stimulates the production of insulin and will cause reduced blood sugar levels.

Low sugar levels cause drowsiness, weakness, faintness, and hunger. Alcohol will generally affect your immune system and make you more susceptible to infections and diseases.alcohol the more you will find that you need to get the same effect. If you are drinking alcohol because of stress you must identify the cause of the stress and reduce this.

Alcoholic drinks usually have a high sugar content therefore contribute to gaining excess weight due to the amount of calories you are consuming. It may also disrupt your sleep patterns and prevent certain vitamins from being absorbed properly.

Alcoholics will deny that there is a problem and blame other people for their problems. They can become abusive and resort to physical and verbal abuse. They will often lie and cheat, and lose their ethical standards.

A person being treated for alcoholism should have medical supervision.

A small amount of red wine may be good for you. An average measure of liquor will have about 90 calories as will half a pint of beer. The best way to deal with a hangover is to drink plenty of water. Drinking coffee or tea will only increase dehydration. Never allow other people to pressure you into becoming drunk as you do not know what you are doing, and have little control over your though processes. This will make you more vulnerable in dangerous situations.
