MODEL CAREER ADVICE

There are many different categories of models. For example, “petite” and “outsize” These models are either smaller or larger than the standard size for models.

Male models generally need to be about 1m 78 tall with a chest size of 100 cm.

Glamour photographic models tend to be a lot smaller as their work often doesn’t show their entire body. For example, beauty work often only shows their face and the make up they are wearing.

Modelling is not just about looking good as there are many other attributes

which a successful model must have. Understanding what your job will involve and knowing what is expected of you will help you decide whether modelling is for you as a full time career or as a part time interest. Like so many so called glamorous jobs – it’s not all glamour.

The first thing you need to be aware of is that there is no shortage of potential models therefore you will find a lot of competition for jobs. Getting started isn’t easy and keeping going is even harder. In fact it is common to earn very little in your first year as a model. With this in mind you should not be relying of earning any amount of money initially, just look at it as a bonus if you are lucky enough to find regular work. It will take time to build up your contacts with potential clients who may be able to offer you work in the future.
